Walking With The Wise

The people with whom we associate have the ability to shape who we are as people. A businessman named Jim Rohn once said something to the effect of that we are the average of the five closest people in our lives. The five people with whom you spend the most time. Solomon, in Proverbs 13 said this:

Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm. – Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)

With whom are you hanging out? What kind of an impact are your friends having on you? Listen to the things you say. Carefully observe your own behavior. Are the people in your life building you up or are they bringing you down? Evaluate your relationships in light of the person you are and the person you want to become. If you walk with the wise, their wisdom will rub off on you. If you hang out with fools, you’ll do foolish things and harm will come to you. So who are your five closest friends? What impact and influence are you having on them and what kind of impact are they having on you?
