Heeding The Words Of Wisdom

Proverbs 7 is a warning from Solomon to his son about staying away from an adulterous woman. He begins the chapter with these words:

My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
2 Keep my commands and you will live;
    guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
3 Bind them on your fingers;
    write them on the tablet of your heart. – Proverbs 7:1-3 (NIV)

Not only should sons and daughters listen to their parents and learn from their wisdom, but we all should listen to God’s Word and learn from Him. The Holy Spirit instructs us through God’s Word. We need to pay attention to the Spirit’s leading and listen to the wisdom of God’s Word. God gave us the Bible, not as a list of rules to follow, but as an instruction manual for life. As our Creator, God has given us instructions for how to navigate through life without hurting ourselves and others. He knows us inside and out and when we listen to His Word and we do what it says, life tends to go better. So heed the words of wisdom found in God’s Word and may God bless you today.
