Don’t Be Lazy

Solomon warned against laziness in Proverbs 6. He wrote:

How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?

10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—

11 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man. – Proverbs 6:9-11 (NIV)

Proverbs aren’t necessarily guarantees, but rather they are general principles for life. One of the themes of the book is that laziness leads to poverty. If you won’t work, you won’t be able to feed yourself or provide for your family.
We were created to work and to find fulfillment in our work. We find our ultimate fulfillment in a relationship with our Creator. Even He worked when He created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is around us. There was a time to rest and we do need to rest, but we also need to work hard when it is time to work. Whether you work inside or outside the home, do your best to work hard today and may poverty be far from you.
