Complaining About Our Spiritual Siblings

As we wait for the Lord to return, we have been given a church family. We have brothers and sisters in the Lord who are there to grow in faith alongside us and to help us grow in our faith as well. Like any family, though, there can be sibling rivalry that we must work through and overcome. James writes:

Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! – James 5:9 (NIV)

When we grumble and complain about our spiritual siblings, we are taking the place of the Judge. We will be judged by God for our sins and that includes judging and complaining about our brothers and sisters in Christ. Instead of grumbling and complaining about them, let us hold each other accountable in love. That way, we will all build each other up in faith instead of tearing one another down. None of us are qualified to take the Judge’s seat. The true Judge will judge us all, so let’s remain humble toward each other in love.
