In The Name Of Jesus

When we pray, we make sure that we pray “in the name of Jesus.” We are told to pray to God the Father through the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. Why is that all we do in Jesus’ name? The Apostle Paul says:

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

If you can’t say it or do it in Jesus’ name, then you shouldn’t do it or say it. You can’t cuss someone out in Jesus’ name. You can’t gossip in Jesus’ name. You can’t lose your temper in traffic in Jesus’ name. You can’t look at porn in Jesus’ name. You can’t get drunk in Jesus’ name. You can love your family in Jesus’ name. You can praise God in Jesus’ name. You can work hard in Jesus’ name. I’m sure you get the picture. If you can’t say, “in the name of Jesus” after the words you say or after the deeds you do, then stop saying those words and doing those activities. Then you will be able to give thanks to God the Father through Him.
