Blowing Your Top

We are living in such angry times. Road rage, angry protests and violence in our streets are just a few of the symptoms of uncontrolled anger. Paul says that we must rid ourselves of the signs of anger. He says:

But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. – Colossians 3:8 (NIV)

Losing our tempers and blowing our tops are inappropriate behaviors for followers of Jesus. We CAN and should have a righteous anger about injustice and sin. How we express that anger says quite a bit about us as Christians. Slander and violent, filthy language in the heat of the moment are wrong for believers in Christ. We need to control our anger instead of letting it control us. We are to be known for our love and compassion, not for anger and rage. Keep your anger in check today and you’ll have a better chance at being heard.
