Quiet Waters

Good Tuesday morning to you! God, as our Shepherd, knows the importance of rest for His sheep. David wrote:
He leads me beside still waters. – Psalm 23:2b (ESV)
God not only provides food for His sheep, but He leads us to quiet waters where we can drink and rest. There is a real difference between a cool, gentle stream and a raging river. A raging river does not lend itself to tranquility and rest. You can’t drink out of raging rapids. There is also a difference between still waters and a stagnant pond. You can’t drink from that, either. The Good Shepherd leads His sheep to a gentle, quiet stream that is good for drinking and where we can rest. Maybe that’s what you need today. You need to rest alongside a peaceful, quiet stream. You’ve been trying so hard. You’re stressed out beyond belief. You’re overworked and underpaid. May the Good Shepherd lead you to a quiet place where His still, small voice quiets you and calms you so you can rest.
