Good Thursday morning to you! At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew says that the people were in awe of Jesus because of the way that He taught.
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.– Matthew 7:28-29 (NIV)
Jesus taught with authority because Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He was God in human flesh. Jesus is the One to Whom all authority in Heaven and on earth was given. There is coming a day when every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is not just a good man, a good teacher or a mere prophet. He is God and He is sitting in the position of honor at the right hand of the Father in power and glory forever and ever. Who do you say that Jesus is? I say, “He is God, Lord, Savior, Friend and King.”
