Do You Know Jesus?

John 7:32-36 (NIV)

The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about him. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.
33 Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me. 34 You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? 36 What did he mean when he said, ‘You will look for me, but you will not find me,’ and ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”

Jesus knew exactly who He was, where He was from and Whom had sent Him. The Jewish leaders were clueless. Here was the Messiah for whom they had been looking and they couldn’t see Him. They wanted to arrest Him when they should have been adoring Him. They wanted to seize Him when they should have been serving Him. They wanted to kill Him when they should have been worshiping Him.

We aren’t much better in our day and age. People are looking for purpose and meaning, love and joy and they miss the One who can give them these things. They want to ignore Him when they should seek Him. They want to persecute His followers whey they should join them. Jesus has gone into Heaven, but He wants to dwell in every man and woman. He will return one day, but He wants to enter our hearts today. He will bring peace and hope into our lives if we will only listen to Him and accept His offer of forgiveness.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for sending Jesus. I pray for my friends and relatives who don’t know Him yet. I pray that they would see Him living in me so that they would want to know Him and receive His love. Amen.
