A Light Has Dawned

 Isaiah 9:2 (NIV)
The people walking in darkness
    have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
    a light has dawned.
For centuries, the children of Israel waited for the light of salvation.  They walked in the darkness for far too long.  They had been oppressed and held captive by other nations.  They were looking for a Savior.
For centuries, humanity has waited for the light of salvation.  We have walked in the darkness for far too long.  We have been oppressed and held captive by sin. We have been looking for a Savior.
In the person of Jesus Christ, light has come.  In the person of Jesus Christ, salvation is found.  He said:

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.  – John 8:12 (NIV)

If you’re tired of walking in darkness, the light of Christmas can illuminate your soul as no other light can.  If you’re tired of stumbling in the night, the new day has dawned.  There is so much darkness and death in our world today.  But in Jesus, we can find the light of life.  That’s what Christmas is all about.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for sending Your light into the world, Jesus Christ.  Help me to shine the light into the dark corners of this world that those who are lost will find hope and light.  Thank You for the gift of Your Son and I ask this in His name, amen.
