Post-Election Thoughts 2016

Titus 3:1-2 (NLT)

Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good. They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.

We’re post-election 2016 now and Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States. It has been an ugly campaign on both sides of the aisle. Now the work of unifying our country begins. Followers of Jesus should be leading the charge. Whether you voted Democrat, Republican or Independent, if you are a follower of Jesus, you are called to be humble and gentle. You are called to obey and submit to the government and its officers. You are called to do what is good.
Don’t let fear or bitterness overtake you if you didn’t vote for the President-elect. Don’t let pride or arrogance overtake you if you did vote for him. Don’t let despair and depression overtake you at all. God is still on His throne. He still loves you and Jesus still died for your sins. Let God be God and trust Him to accomplish His perfect will. He’s still our Good, Good Father and He still cares for us deeply. Nothing can change God and Jesus never changes. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever. Put your faith in Him and not in any candidate or elected official. Pray for our leaders and rest in the promises of God.
PRAYER: O Father, we pray for the men and women who were elected to the offices of government in our land last night. We pray that You would endow them with wisdom. We pray that they would seek Your face and the good of our nation and its people. We know that You are in charge and nothing happens without You allowing it. Help us to trust You always. In Jesus’ name, amen.
