God Doesn’t Play Politics

In Proverbs 14, we see a great lesson about the political world in verse 34:

Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a disgrace to any people. (Proverbs 13:34, NIV)

I’m not going to go on any political rants, but I want you to think about this verse.  How has our nation exhibited righteousness?  How have we sinned?  I don’t think that this verse just has to do with the ancient nation of Israel.  I believe that this verse applies to any nation.  I don’t believe that this verse is pointed at any political party, either.  I think that there is good and bad on both sides of the aisle.  But if we want God to bless America, then it is time for America to bless God with repentance and righteousness.  We cannot pay lip service to Him and continue on a path of sin.  So what do YOU think about this verse?  Is our nation exalted or disgraced?  Should God continue to bless America with provision and protection?  Or should America repent of sin and beg God for mercy?
PRAYER: Father, on this election day, we pray for the men and women who will be leading this nation. We pray for their protection and for the protection of their families. We pray that they would turn to You for wisdom and guidance. We pray for our country. We ask that You would turn the hearts of people to You. Don’t give up on us, O God. We need You now as we always have. We can’t make it without You. In the name of Jesus, amen.
