God Knows What He’s Doing

John 6:1-7 (NIV)

Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. The Jewish Passover Festival was near.

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

You may not realize it, but God knows what He’s doing. He knows all about your situation. He knows what you’re going through. He knows your every need (even before you ask Him). Not only does He know about your situation, He knows how He’s going to deal with it.
When Jesus saw the great crowds approaching, He knew that they were hungry. He knew that they would need food. He also knew how He was going to feed them. So He turned to Philip to test his faith. Would Philip see the problem with earthly eyes or with spiritual eyes? To Philip, the problem could only be solved by buying bread.
I heard Andy Stanley at a recent leadership conference say that leaders need to focus on the wow instead of on the how. Philip was focused on the how. How could they possibly feed all of those people? He didn’t see the opportunity that was before them. He didn’t see the potential wow of what Jesus could do.
In your life today, whatever crisis or problem you’re facing, focus on trusting God to provide the wow for you. If you’re having a hard time making ends meet, trust God to provide and follow His leading. He knows what He’s doing. He knows how He will provide. He will wow you with His power and His love. You’ve got to trust Him to do so. See your problem as God’s opportunity to open your eyes to His amazing power.
PRAYER: Father in Heaven, You know my every need. You know my situation that I am facing today. I pray that You will help me to give it over to You and to trust You for the answer and the solution. Help me to patiently wait upon You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
