The Judge Is Coming

Zechariah 6:1-8 (NIV)

I looked up again, and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains—mountains of bronze. The first chariot had red horses, the second black, the third white, and the fourth dappled—all of them powerful. I asked the angel who was speaking to me, “What are these, my lord?”

The angel answered me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world. The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horses toward the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”

When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth. And he said, “Go throughout the earth!” So they went throughout the earth.

Then he called to me, “Look, those going toward the north country have given my Spirit rest in the land of the north.”

Zechariah’s vision of four chariots with horses is all about God’s judgment of the entire world. God will judge the nations one day for their treatment of not only His people, but all people. Governments will be held accountable. Leaders will be held accountable. Everyone will be held accountable by the Judge and Lord of the whole earth.
God’s perfect judgment is right and just. He is the rightful Judge of humanity. He is our Creator and King. There is nothing nor no one who will escape His judgment. This should fill us with holy awe and reverence. God will judge everyone. For the follower of Jesus, the judgment will be not guilty. For those who reject Him as Savior, the judgment will be rendered as guilty. There will be rewards for those who follow Christ and wrath for those who deny Him. Those who perpetrate injustice and oppression will find themselves cast out of the Kingdom. Those who obey God’s command to “act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with” Him (Micah 6:8) will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
Those who follow Jesus must remember that judgment is coming for every person on the planet. We have to tell people about God’s Divine judgment before it is too late. People need to hear about God’s grace as well as His judgment. They need to hear about Jesus and His love. They need to see it in action.

PRAYER: O righteous Judge, may I never forget that You will judge the nations and all the people of the earth. May I not lose sight of Your power and majesty. May I be filled today with awe and wonder at who You are, O God. May I be filled today with peace because I know Jesus. In His name, amen.
