Solomon was all about wisdom and in Ecclesiastes 10:8-11, he shows us how wisdom can be applied to ordinary daily tasks to make our lives easier and safer.  In verses 8-9, he lists four mundane tasks and the dangers of not applying wisdom to them.  In verse 10, Solomon says that a little bit of wisdom saves energy and time.  In verse 11, wisdom might save your life.  In other words, use your noggin and you won’t be sorry.
God gave us amazing minds to use in everyday situations.  When I was in high school, my mother would say the same thing every time I left the house: “THINK!”  I have a poster hanging in my office that reads, “THINK!”  We have brains for a reason and we would do well to use them to THINK through the consequences of our actions.  Too often we rush into decisions and situations without THINKing about what might happen if we make the wrong choice or a bad decision.  We rely too much on our gut feelings and not on wisdom.
Whatever you do today, THINK!  You won’t be sorry and you might avoid a few snakebites along the way.

Ecclesiastes 10:8-11 (NIV)

Whoever digs a pit may fall into it;
    whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.
Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them;
    whoever splits logs may be endangered by them.

10 If the ax is dull
    and its edge unsharpened,
more strength is needed,
    but skill will bring success.

11 If a snake bites before it is charmed,
    the charmer receives no fee.
