I was thinking about time the other day and how quickly it moves.  It seems like it was just a few days ago that I brought my newborn son home from the hospital.  He turns 8 1/2 soon.  It seems like a few weeks ago that I married my college sweetheart.  We celebrated 16 years of marriage in December.  It was just a few months ago that I graduated from high school, right?  It’s been over 20 years!  What is going on?  What is happening?  When did someone open up the throttle and life put the pedal to the metal?  Why is life moving at the speed of light?

James 4:14 says, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”  In other words, life moves fast.  We’re here one moment and gone the next.  The seasons change.  Winter gives way to spring (praise the Lord!), spring gives way to summer, summer gives way to fall and before you know it, winter arrives once more.  Life moves way too fast to wish it away.  Life moves way too fast to be bored.  How can anyone be bored with life?!?  It can turn on a dime and you never know what to expect!

We spend our childhoods wanting to be teenagers.  We spend our teen years wanting to be adults.  We spend our adult years wanting to retire.  We spend our retirement years wanting to be young again.  Don’t waste your life by yearning for something that is either inevitable or impossible.  Live each day in the moment!  Live today!  Really live today!  Tomorrow is not guaranteed and yesterday is long gone.  Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow because each day has enough trouble of its own.  May God grant us many tomorrows and may we live for Him today.
