Anyone Can Lose Weight! Resolve To Be Grateful

David was overwhelmed by God’s goodness toward His people.  He praises God for all that He does.  Notice the mighty, loving acts of God:
  • God answers prayer (vs. 2)
  • God forgives transgressions (vs. 3)
  • God chooses His people (vs. 4)
  • God brings His people near to Himself (vs. 4)
  • God answers His people with awesome deeds (vs. 5)
  • God inspires songs of joy (vs. 8)
  • God cares for the land (vss. 9-10)
  • God abundantly provides for His people (vss. 11-13)

I am particularly fond of verse 11:

You crown the year with your bounty,
    and your carts overflow with abundance. – Ps. 65:11 (NIV)

As we begin this new year of 2015, I want to be more aware of God’s abundant provision in my life.  I want to be more grateful and thankful.  I want to notice God’s awesome, mighty, loving and kind deeds toward me and toward His people.  I want to see with eyes of appreciation.  I want to have a heart that is filled with gratitude and not with greed.  Anyone can lose weight.  I want to have a heart that is thankful.  That is my resolution: to neither take God nor His blessings for granted.  God is so good to us, my friends.  Yet too often we fail to see the demonstrations of His love.  Pay attention to all He is doing in your life.  Resolve to be grateful and gracious recipients of His love.

Psalm 65 (NIV)

For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song.

Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion;
    to you our vows will be fulfilled.
You who answer prayer,
    to you all people will come.
When we were overwhelmed by sins,
    you forgave our transgressions.
Blessed are those you choose
    and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house,
    of your holy temple.

You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
    God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
    and of the farthest seas,
who formed the mountains by your power,
    having armed yourself with strength,
who stilled the roaring of the seas,
    the roaring of their waves,
    and the turmoil of the nations.
The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
    where morning dawns, where evening fades,
    you call forth songs of joy.

You care for the land and water it;
    you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
    to provide the people with grain,
    for so you have ordained it.
10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges;
    you soften it with showers and bless its crops.
11 You crown the year with your bounty,
    and your carts overflow with abundance.
12 The grasslands of the wilderness overflow;
    the hills are clothed with gladness.
13 The meadows are covered with flocks
    and the valleys are mantled with grain;
    they shout for joy and sing.
