The Teachings Of Jesus

The words of Jesus are to be heard and obeyed.  In Luke 8:16-18, Jesus says that His teachings would soon by revealed to everyone by His followers.  It is our job to shine the light of Jesus Christ all around for everyone to see.  It is our responsibility to help people understand the Truth of Jesus’ teachings.  We do this in a variety of ways.
  • First, we have to live out Jesus’ teachings in our lives in a genuine, authentic way.  We cannot be fake or phony.  People can sniff out a fake from a mile away.  If we are not living out our faith, we are not representing our Savior well.
  • Second, we have to know what Jesus’ teachings are.  How can we share the Gospel with others if we don’t know it ourselves?  So what is your testimony?  What has Jesus done in your life?  How has Jesus changed you?  How has He given you hope, joy, peace and strength?
  • Third, we share the Good News when we have opportunities to do so.  So pray for opportunities to tell other people about Jesus or to invite them to church.
Jesus says that we will be held accountable for what we do with His Word.  If we accept Him and His teachings, we will be rewarded.  For those who reject Him and His teachings, they will be punished.  So be careful what you do with Jesus and His teachings.  Eternity hangs in the balance.

Luke 8:16-18 (NIV)

A Lamp on a Stand

16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”
